So, here's what I hear a lot. How do normal electricians like us, who are properly trained and licensed, who are not willing to cheat and take shortcuts, and who are wanting to own a successful electrical business? How do we compete against the big guys who own the market share or the guys that charge peanuts for an electrical job? On top of that, we want to employ the best electrician solutions so we can get off the tools and have plenty of time for other areas of life. That's the question.

Join me and follow along as we search for the answers. My name is James Rest and welcome to Marketing Secrets for Electricians. Work with people all around the world, so it's exciting to know where you're from now. We're going to do a recap today and share the results of the campaign we've been working on and we'll go from there. So what we've been doing is we've built a website, we've built a giveaway, we've given away $300 worth of electrical work for someone to opt in and enter a competition.

And the reason we have done this is because we didn't want to give $30 away to everyone and to minimize your risk. you can do a competition. So one out of a hundred, one out of a thousand, whatever the odds you want to do, you can give it, you know, give that away to people in your local area. So we spent a hundred, $200 and got about 10 to 15 people that opted into this form. So what does that mean?

It means that essentially if I was the electrician in the area, I would go through and give one person the winner of the $300, you go around, do the electrical work, get to introduce yourself and get to know that person. So that's one thing, but also you've collected an extra 10, 15 people who you can then communicate to. And if you wanted to, you could go through and give them a free safety check or give them something. So everyone's a winner in a competition and it would be a good idea to give them something. In this case, I don't think I am because I'm not the electrician to have to go do that work.

It would be someone else. So someone else would actually have to go do that now. Where we go from here is this is the first run and this is the result so I know that roughly I'm spending anywhere depending upon the campaign so depending on the audience I targeted and even not sure what I'm talking about go back to the past episodes and you learn a little bit more but basically depending upon the audience I targeted we're spending between $1 and $20 per opt-in and so it averages out about $10, $13 for someone to opt in and give me their details. Now, what we want to do is, and this is maybe where a lot of electricians will lack that system, which is that automation process which builds their relationship. And this is a marketing thing that electricians definitely don't really do, and maybe unless they're a bigger, well-established company.

And that's a set of emails communicating with the customer. So that they entered this competition and they didn't win, that's not the end. continue that relationship, keep communicating, keep building that rapport basically until at one stage when you're like, oh, I'm an electrician, you're at the top of the mind because you spent that time working and building the relationship, adding value to the relationship. And at some point they're going to know electrician, everybody who is in the house, electricity, hopefully in this modern world or in your area anyway, and they're going to need your services at some point. And ideally your top to mind and that's the case you're also less likely to compete on price because it already knows you they already trust you versus somebody that they try and I mean there's an article on Air Tasker the other day where someone went on Air Tasker they found it was a handyman and they basically drew the hole in the wall and the whole house flooded causing ten thousand plus dollars worth of damage and the handyman ran and because that person and didn't go through the system, there's no insurance, they weren't covered that to fork it out themselves.

Now that is quite a shitty story and unfortunately it happens but this is why you want to build a relationship, show that you're a trustworthy electrician, show that you've got something to stand on, you're not just going to run off and you can do that through email series, through videos and all this is automated so you don't have to actually talk like, I'm not talking to you right now one-on-one, I'm talking to your podcast, you're watching the video, So you can see me there. So there's many options available to you to help build that relationship. And this is where we're going to be going. So, or that's where you usually go. I'm going to be tweaking the giveaway.

So now I've run a test run. We've got the standard. It was like $13 per lead. So that was like the lead is someone who's giving me their email. Yeah.

So that's the average now. And I've got other statistics. I'm collecting the information and I've got the views. I've got the audience's, I've got some pieces of information and basically now I've got a bar. So my goal now is to tweak my campaign.

So tweak the offer, tweak the page that I'm gonna send them to and make it more intriguing, make it more valuable. I want to bring down that price of the people I send there. I want to get from 13 down to 10, nine, eight on a consistent basis. And so I want to try to create something that is for just the $300, maybe we need to throw in some extra things. And we're going to run it through this sequence as I go through it.

And we're going to build out a better offer and a better free giveaway, essentially. And then that's the first part. And then we're also going to build in a second bit. So once they opt in, what do we do? Like at the moment, I just created basically two pages and I said opt in and that was it.

And then they waited for the giveaway. give that person away. There's going to be an email sequence, we're going to create some videos, we're going to add more value. So this is just a start. And this is what you do is marketing, you try and get a point, and then you measure that and try and beat it and consistently do that enough.

And you end up with a winning formula. The trick is to stay focused. So I hope that helps. If you have any questions, please raise out comment in the link below, send me an email, go to marketingsecretsforelectricians.com, contact me there. And I'll talk to you soon.
