Hey guys James Rest here from Marketing Secrets for Electricians and today we're looking at basically ideas that you can use to help with your marketing and it's relating to the customer with a common interest that you have and it can be practically anything it doesn't matter the main thing is you have a story and interest that relates to the customer so let's have a look into this. That's the question. Join me and follow along as we search for the answers. My name is James Rest and welcome to Marketing Secrets for Electricians. Swimming, dogs, cats, whatever the thing may be.

In this case I'm going to use green tea as an example and I'm going to share with you kind of a story. So you start with a story to help relate to that so your customer can see where you're coming from. Right. So let's go. So I was a coffee drinker for many years and I used to drink coffee in the morning.

It was a thing that like, you know, without it, I couldn't start my day. I needed that extra kick to get going. However, the side effect was I was having trouble sleeping. I was jittery. I was like getting headaches.

There's all these negative effects from drinking the coffee. And that being said, coffee is a big industry. There's like just coffee vans running around. So there's lots of money in coffee and people are addicted to coffee because it gives you that jolt of energy. However, for me, I was trying to find an alternative and I was talking to a friend and they were like, hey, why don't you try green tea?

It's supposed to be give you that kick like coffee. However, it has another element in it that counteracts the coffee. So it's like a calming element element. So it soothes the caffeine kick and balances it out so you don't get all the headaches. And it's supposed to be really good for you.

Has lots of benefits rather than what coffee does. And you can go into all the benefits and, you know, pros and cons of coffee versus green tea. And that's where I started. So I was like, OK, I went to the shop, started trying green tea. And for about a week, you know, I was still having the down side effects of coffee.

Having headaches was like withdrawal symptoms. It was kind of hard. But I pushed through and managed to stick to just coffee and a stick to green tea. And I've been on it ever since. Now, with that, I've also changed.

So just normal green tea. I've gone a bit deeper and I found out that, hey, bio is better. So now I buy bio tea. And then I also started hiring or buying from local or organic tea shops who have the green tea bedding leaves so I can have it in leaves. And I know it's not like they don't kill all their antioxidants and all this kind of stuff.

So you can tell I'm into health. So what I'm trying who I'm trying to connect with to people who also drink green tea are into health. Now, how does this relate to running an electrical business? Now, you can use this in your marketing so you can tell this story or your story of how you came to drink green tea or how you came to do whatever it is you do. Whatever that thing is, that's fine.

You tell that story and why from where you were to how you got to that point of being interested in green tea or the gym or how you got to get your puppy, your dog, whatever that thing is. And you can share that story. And then for the green tea example, I can go, OK, everyone who spends, say, three hundred dollars with me gets a free box of green tea. And this isn't any green tea. It's like organic.

It's locally sourced. It's like the green tea for electricians or it's my brand. So I would actually brand the green tea so it's like they can only get it from you. You've sourced it yourself. In the local environment, you've repackaged repackaged it.

So it's your green tea. And then you can everyone that uses your service every year or every, you know, on a regular basis or a certain amount, you give them a free box of green tea and you can sell it on the side. You can give them extra green tea. But the point being is it it could be the differentiating factor. That's like, OK, I can get a normal electrician who'll give me a free quote or I can get the green tea electrician and I like green tea and he's into health and like it shows more about you and your character and you can relate with the customer.

And then following that, let's say you sell the green tea and in you can sell the green tea in the little tea bit teabags. And I've seen other companies have like little messages and stuff. So you could have little prompts. So every morning, say if I'm drinking your green tea, hey, that electrician is top of mind. So you're saying, hey, that's the green tea electrician or that's your branded electrician.

And your friend comes over and they drink tea. What are they going to do? They're going to use your tea, your tea to share. And it's going to come up and you can have a little like call to action on your tea. So you can have a little quote or something and you say, hey, go get go to this URL.

And that URL can be the top of a sales funnel. Say, hey, get more green tea. So or whatever the thing you want to sell next. But for example, you have a free plus shipping offer to get more green tea because they the person, the people who you're selling to like this type of stuff or you could sell other things. But I think green tea would be suitable because you give them, say, a bag the last month and then a month later they want more.

So you could also start having a subscription basis for selling the green tea if you wanted to, or just focus on being top of mind. So they're always seeing your services. So as soon as they need electrician, like the green tea electrician are like I need like they can talk to their friends about it and you're getting in front of the customer. And that's one of the most challenging things nowadays because we're so distracted. We're so tension span is like seven seconds.

It's crazy. This gets you the opportunity to every day, essentially every time they want a drink of tea, you get in front of them. And that's the benefit, the major benefit that I can see in doing this strategy. Now, this is just one of many strategies. It's a marketing idea for electricians.
